The Third Arte-Polis International Conference on CREATIVE COLLABORATION AND THE MAKING OF PLACE: Learning from Shared Creative Experiences Bandung - Indonesia, 22-24 July 2010
Building on the successes of the first two Arte-Polis international conferences in 2006 and 2008, Institute of Technology, Bandung (ITB) is pleased to present Arte-Polis 3, an international conference with the theme "Creative Collaboration and the Making of Place: Learning from Shared Creative Experiences". This biennial event is an initiative of the architecture Program at ITB's School of Architecture, Planning and Policy development in collaboration with other creative institutions, to be held on 22-24 July 2010 in Bandung, Indonesia's city with a long heritage of creative culture, communities and collaborations.
The aim of Arte-Polis 3 is to bring together practitioners, academics, community leaders, local government officials, policy-makers and other professionals from diverse disciplines and regions around the world concerned with the quality of life and collaborative nature of creative communities in urban, rural and pastoral places. Its objective is to share and learn from international and local experiences regarding current issues, best practices and policy implications of creative collaboration on place-making.
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
The peer-reviewed Arte-Polis 3 international conference will address the theme "Creative Collaboration and the Making of Place" through a number of diverse Tracks, such as:
A. Architecture and Environmental Design through Creative Collaboration B. Business, Management and Entrepreneurship for Creative Collaboration C. Culture, Arts and Design showcasing Creative Collaboration D. Digital Media and Information Technology harnessing Creative Collaboration E. Education and Theoretical Discourses on Creative Collaboration F. Planning and Policy Development informed by Creative Collaboration
This International Conference will critically discuss the following issues: (1) How does the creative process occur and what is the understanding of creative collaboration? (2) How and to what extent does the creative economy influence the collaborative nature of place-making? (3) What shared experiences on creative collaboration can be learned from the cultural and economic contexts of diverse places? (4) How can creative activities be managed, planned, designed and replicated collaboratively to increase the quality of places for their communities? (5) What are the appropriate policies and collaborative strategies that encourage development of community-based creative economy and place-making?

as an attachment file. Author's name, institution, e-mail, mailing address, Abstract Title and prefered Conference Track, must be provided on a separate page. Abstracts and papers received earlier than deadlines will be reviewed and notified earlier as well.
Abstracts received will be reviewed by the Reviewers Panel, and Authors will be notified of the results. Should an Abstract be selected, the Author will be invited to send an full version of the Paper by 22 APRIL 2010. Papers received will be blind-reviewed by members of the Reviewers Panel and selected Authors will be invited to submit a final version of the Paper by 11 JUNE 2010 for inclusion in the Conference Proceedings and presentation in the Conference. Guidelines will be provided on the format, margins, fonts, maximum number of pages and possible insertion of images for Papers. Only English edited papers will be accepted, and Authors should keep in accordance with these guidelines for inclusion in the Conference Proceedings.

PUBLICATIONS Abstracts of selected Papers will be compiled in a book and, together with a CD-ROM of the Conference Proceedings, will be provided to registered participants at the Conference venue. Conference Proceedings in book form, containing Papers received by the above deadline, will also be available for purchase during the Conference.
LANGUAGE English is the official language for all Conference business, including Abstracts, Papers, presentations and correspondence.
VENUE The Museum of the Asian-African Conference (Gedung Merdeka), where the 1955 Asian-African Conference took place, will be the venue for Arte-Polis 3 international conference and supporting events. Designed by architects C.P. Wolf Schoemaker and A.F. Aalbers, this historically significant building complex is the ideal gathering place for international collaboration of creative champions, that is Arte-Polis 3.
